Description

It is a rocket launcher with a Bavarium-based warhead. Some believe this to be a type of EMP, as lines of blue zigzag energy (possibly electricity) crackle around the explosion.

The Rebel drop description says «It’s difficult to describe the might of the Bavarium-infused M488 FOW. Basically, fire it at something that you don’t like and that thing will be gone forever.»

It is based on the «M-28» or «M-29» or «M-388» or «Davy Crockett weapon system», a tactical nuclear recoil-less gun for firing the M-388 nuclear projectile. However that weapon was larger and meant to be fired from a tripod. The M-388 was a small (Yield between 10 and 20 tons of TNT. Normal strategic nuclear warheads have a yield of thousands or even millions of tons of TNT.) nuclear bomb, but its main effect was almost instantly lethal radiation with in 400 meters of the blast.

Увеличить файл подкачки, если не хватает оперативной памяти для Just Cause 3

Чтобы компенсировать недостаток оперативной памяти, можно увеличить файл подкачки. Это позволит системе хранить часть необходимых Just Cause 3 данных прямо на жестком диске. Вот что нужно сделать:

  • Поставить флажок напротив опции «Указать размер»;
  • В текстовых полях «Исходный размер (МБ):» и «Максимальный размер (МБ):» указать в мегабайтах значение, равное половине объема оперативной памяти.

Следует понимать, что файл подкачки эффективен только тогда, когда системе не хватает оперативной памяти. Если компьютер имеет 8-16 Гб, то файл подкачки практически не используется. А при использовании SSD-диска в качестве системного наличие файла подкачки и вовсе может замедлить производительность Just Cause 3, поэтому не следует бездумно задавать большое значение файла подкачки.

Game editions and DLC

Just Cause 4 is a confusing mess of numerous different editions. See Downloadable content for Just Cause 4 for a list of all editions and their included content. If you’re looking for Just Cause 4 with all DLC, get the Complete Edition, not the «Gold», «Digital Deluxe» or «Reloaded» editions.

Unlike with JC3, there didn’t seem to be a disk edition of the PC version. Looking hard enough, it was possible to find at least 1 site that lists a PC DVD version, but all other sites have JC4 listed as a «download», or as a «Steam code». The console versions, however, were pictured as the box/disk version at most online stores.

Expansion Pass

The game has 3 expansion packs (similarly to Just Cause 3 expansions) called «Dare Devils of Destruction», «Los Demonios» and «Danger Rising».

Setting and plot summary

General Di Ravello took over the nation of Medici (located in a fictional Mediterranean archipelago) when Rico was still a child. Rico’s parents were killed during the coup, but Rico managed to escape and eventually join The Agency. Several years after the events of Just Cause 2, Rico has left the Agency and travels back home to Medici to fight Di Ravello in Medici Civil War.

Di Ravello is planning on using Medici’s unique explosive and magnetic mineral Bavarium, along with a vast military to conquer the world. There is a rebellion fighting a civil war against him, but it’s failing until Rico shows up to aid them.

Medici was reported to be «nearly 400» square miles but also sometimes «just over» 400 square miles. 400 square miles is the size of Panau, but it will be more densely full than Panau.

Trivia

  • The player-usable eDEN Spark doesn’t directly shoot lightning, as seen in the cut-scene here. Instead it calls natural lightning down from the sky.
  • When Rico jumps out of the cargo plane he says «Thank you for flying Black Hand Air!«, which can be counted as an easter egg to the Extraction in Just Cause 2.
  • The generators at the floating dry dock resemble some kind of large Naval mines.
  • Looch was introduced to the base game in one of the earlier storyline missions, but until this mission nobody really knew anything about him.
  • When Rico uses deep voice to quote a Black Hand soldier, he finishes the quote with some heavy breathing. The breathing is a reference to Darth Vader, a famous Star Wars character.
  • The two Black Hand guards in the plane carry CS Spectre Mark Vs, which is uncommon for Black Hand footsoldiers.

The nearest plane to this in the game is the Emsavion Floatplane.

One of the earliest released screenshots for the game have Rico being pursued by a Fellhawk Jet Fighter while on a motorcycle. His grappler is nowhere to be seen. Also, fighter planes do not chase ground targets and certainly not this closely.

This type of Black Hand heavy gun is not in the game. It was most likely meant to be something that fires much slower than a normal automatic weapon, but with bigger projectiles.

Altered names for vehicles, weapons and locations

A select few famous gamers on Youtube were each allowed to play the game prior to release for a total of one day and upload gameplay videos. These videos had different names for many items. Those videos also often had different tags on them, like «Pre-alpha», «Visuals not final» and such.

  • «CSV» became CS27 Misfortune.
  • «Fireleach» became Fire Leech.
  • «URGA Vdova» became Urga Vdova 89.
  • «UP39» was renamed to «UP-39» and then renamed again to U-39 Plechovka.
  • «UP-61» became UPM61.
  • «UPU 210» became UPU-210.
  • «UVK 13» became UVK-13.

Cut/modified weapon concepts

  • While never seen in-game, there is rebel graffiti showing what appears to be an AK-47 like rifle.
  • In one promotional screenshot Rico is walking towards a spray-painted police station and he has two different pistols, or revolvers in different holsters. It’s unknown what those pistols are.
  • The Art of Just Cause 3 book shows a version of the CS110 Archangel in-game, and another version of this weapon resembling the Barrett M82.
  • In the image section in this page, there is an image showing 5 concepts for an Unknown Capstone LMG(The image is no 15 in the weapons gallery and it is named «Unknown Capstone Weapon»), This weapon in V005 of the concept drawing looks like a number of weapons, including the FN Minimi (M249 SAW), Stoner LMG, H&K MG4, and perhaps the IWI Negev.
  • In the image section in this page, image 11 under «Weapons» shows 15 concept drawings for a «M111» weapon concept. It appears to be an assault rifle/DMR of sorts, depending on the version of the concept. It bears resemblance to the M4 carbine, SIG SG 553, ArmaLite AR-18, HK 416/, Omen Watchman, and SCAR 20.
  • Image 6 of the weapons gallery shows 9 concept drawings of the CS Spectre Mark V. Concept V004 resembles the M1911, FN FNP-45 and the Beretta 92. In V007, it looks more like an IWI Desert Eagle, also resembling the AMT Automag V and the LAR Grizzly Win Mag.

Location names

  • «Corda Dracon: Torre Central» became Corda Dracon: Centcom.
  • Cava Montana was called a «Bavarium Base» in the pre-release promotional video titled «Bavarium Base Takedown».
  • Porto Vena might have been called «Porto Sirocco» at one point in development. In the Di Ravello tapes, the character De Luca was a brigadier general at this «Porto Sirocco». It is possible that «Sirocco» could’ve been split into Sirocco Sud and Sirocco Nord and the port subsequently renamed as well.

Vehicle names

According to a leaked screenshot and some game files, all vehicles seem to have been named something else initially and the names «Urga», «Autostraad», «Mugello» and «Stria» were in most cases added later. The JC3 internal vehicle list can also be used to find some outdated names.

  • «Autostraad D70» became Autostraad D700.
  • «Kletterer 300» became Autostraad Kletterer 300.
  • «CS Assault Chopper» became CS Navajo.
  • «Placeholder Name» became Stria Obrero.
  • «Mugello Delphino GLF» became Weaponized Pescespada SS.
  • «Urga Pocomaxa X4» became Weaponized Urga Ogar.
  • «Eubus Eagle» (duplicate) became News Chopper. The pre-launch Rebel drop listed two Eubus Eagles.
  • «Kensington Serpente R» became «Kerner Serpente R12» and then Kerner Serpente R.
  • The brand name «Stria» was renamed from «Solar».
  • Game files call the U41 Ptakojester by the following names:
    • «v4603_plane_urga_cargotransport_mm340» — This one drops paratroopers during a mission.
    • «v4603_plane_urga_cargotransport_military_cargo_tank» — This one is programmed to contain an armored vehicle, but it’s not used.
    • «v4603_plane_urga_cargotransport_military_cargo_paratrooper».
  • Stria Kavala has a «LR-V» badge.

Soundtrack and music

Just Cause 4 has many different soundtracks. They are used in different times of the game. The soundtracks can be divided into five main categories:

  • Combat music. This is a collection of dramatic action songs that are played during heat and sidemissions including region strikes and Sargento, Garland and Javi sidemissions. Most of these are electronic songs.
  • Exploration music. This is a collection of calm songs that are played when the player doesn’t have any heat, is not doing any missions and is flying around in his wingsuit (without heat). The songs also play when hoverboarding without heat.
  • Special mission music. These are unique songs that are played during main storyline missions. Operation Thunderbarge, Windwalker, Sandstinger and Illapa all have unique soundstracks that are only played when the player plays these said missions. These are similar to combat music, but are unique and play only in missions.
  • DLC music. This is a collection of songs that are played when the player is in areas added by DLCs or is playing DLC missions.
  • Other. All other soundtracks fall into this category. Songs include ones that are played during specific loading screens, cutscenes and credits.

In-game radio

JC4 is the first game in the series to have radio stations in vehicles. These stations each play a selection of about 10 different items of music and they have some DJs talking. Solís Hoy is a news channel that discusses news and local rumors. The content of this channel changes throughout the storyline.

Description

This is the headquarters for the military in Insula Fonte.

This place is the headquarters of all the military troops stationed throughout the Insula Fonte region, and as such it can be assumed that from here, all military operations carried out on the island are coordinated from here. The deployment of troops throughout the island is also organized to maintain the military presence for all the locations and the dispatch of reinforcements to all units when they need it anywhere.

At the entrance, there is a large gate/door, similar to what are in police stations. A bit before the entrance on the road up to the compound, there is a metal guard tower. It has a large tower, which is similar in appearance to a flak tower or an air traffic control tower. There are buildings surrounding the tower, which is in the middle of the base.

It has a FOW guarding it that is replicated by the handheld Dionysus PLDS-H. The FOW is an airstrike delivered by a CS7 Thunderhawk.

The in-game map description says «Built on the ruins of an ancient Salirosan fortress, Cima Leon’s CentCom Tower is the bastion from which Di Ravello’s regional commanders keep Insula Fonte under strict control.»

Trivia

  • The in-game wingsuit consists of small wings under Rico’s arms, whereas real wingsuits have much bigger wings and an additional third wing to completely close the gap between the persons legs. See more about real wingsuits at wikipedia.
  • It’s said in some interviews with developers that the wingsuit was inspired by youtube videos of real wingsuits.
  • The wingsuit was originally meant to appear in Just Cause 2, but this was cancelled because «nobody was using the cars anymore». See more about this at Cut game content from Just Cause 2.
  • The Sky Fortress DLC makes SAMs in Medici attack Rico when he’s using the «Bavarium Wingsuit». The normal wingsuit, like the parachute, is ignored by SAMs.
  • The Bavarium Wingsuit is a successor to the Dual Parachute Thrusters from Just Cause 2, which upgraded the usual parachute with engines.

Чтобы добиться большего значения FPS в Just Cause 3, сначала можно попробовать разогнать видеокарту. Самый простой способ сделать это — воспользоваться встроенными функциями ПО от производителя видеокарты.

Например, в комплекте с некоторыми видеокартами от GIGABYTE поставляется программа Graphics Engine, в которой есть несколько уже готовых профилей разгона. Это позволяет выжать из видеокарты 5-10 дополнительных кадров в секунду.

Если программы от производителя нет, то всегда можно воспользоваться универсальным решением — MSI Afterburner. Это одна из лучших программ для разгона, в ней множество разных настроек.

Но тут придется все настраивать вручную. Повышать следует в первую очередь частоту самого видеочипа («Core Clock») и частоту памяти видеокарты («Memory Clock»). Слева находятся базовые значения этих параметров. Справа отображаются температура и увеличение вольтажа — эти характеристики позволяют следить за «здоровьем» видеокарты.

При повышении частоты возрастает нагрев видеокарты. Если температура переходит отметку в 85 градусов, то следует увеличить скорость оборотов вентиляторов («Fan Speed»). Если температура повысилась до 100 градусов, то следует немедленно прекратить разгон, иначе чип может расплавиться. Мощный «разгон» требует водяного охлаждения, поэтому не следует повышать частоты более чем на 10%.

Сюжет

Коварный генерал подчинил себе сначала вымышленный город в республике, и тем всеми своими уловками хочет подчинить все государство. Это циничная особа, которая любыми способами хочет превратить в рабов всех жителей. Полиция, тюрьмы и правительственные организации полностью погрязли в коррупции, и только ваш отчаянный герой, который многое повидал на своем пути, сможет спасти жителей от такого изверга и тирана. Естественно в вашем распоряжении будут ваши любимые крылья, парашют, и конечно же крюк кошка, при помощи которой можно цепляться за уступы на скалах, а также при помощи такого устройства вы теперь сможете даже уничтожать врагов. Ну и естественно не обойтись от необычного транспорта, которым привык пользоваться ваш герой. Только в данной части весь транспорт модернизирован и теперь напичкан настоящим, вмонтированным в него оружием. Летаем на мотоцикле, прыгаем с парашюта на вражеские автомобили.

Risks to health and environmental and other hazards

Icon for the achievement «The Power of Bavarium». This is presumably the symbol of bavarium related hazards, similar to the real world chemical weapon symbol.

Bavarium technology seems to be some type of parody of nuclear fission technology.

  • Requirement for vast mining and refinement industries.
  • Ability to increase the power of weapons.
  • Bavarium itself sounds to be, by name and by how it’s spoken of, a fictional chemical element.

However, pretty much nothing is known about any possibly harmful waste materials from the refinement, bavarium batteries, or the bavarium reactor. The fact that bavarium has a hazard symbol proves that it is certainly hazardous.

It is unlikely that bavarium is a relatively «clean energy». It’s more likely that the waste is being disposed of somewhere off-screen.

Waste gas from refined bavarium

As shown in the mission Conflicting Interests, «refined Bavarium» does produce waste gas that the Medici Military disposes of by venting it into the atmosphere. It’s possible to detect the Bavarium content of the gas with a smaller than fist size scanner.

Standing at the exhaust vent with out protective gear (and presumably inhaling the gas) did not seem to have any effect on Rico. Dimah Ali Umar al-Masri, the world’s leading Bavarium scientist, didn’t even mention any possible harmful effects to Rico when sending him there. This does not necessarily prove that it’s harmless, just that either the harm was negligible and/or that the effects are still unknown even to the top scientists.

Bavarium radiation

Bavarium-based weapons don’t seem to have any lasting effects and the destruction of Bavarium batteries doesn’t cause any detectable harm either.

The only known source of Bavarium radiation is the open-top core of the Bavarium reactor at Corda Dracon: Centcom, which kills Rico in a matter of seconds.

Vehicles

According to the in-game map info for Porto Le Gratia, Medici uses that port to import tanks and artillery.

Helicopters:

  • CS Comet — Unarmed transport helicopter.
  • CS Navajo — Heavy attack helicopter. It is equipped with 2 types of missiles, light ones and heavy ones, the latter being the most powerful non-Bavarium missiles. It has weak armor though.
  • Urga Hrom D — Large attack helicopter. It is equipped with dual miniguns and missiles.
  • Urga Mstitel — Modern attack helicopter with a Bavarium shield, allowing it to become immune for a few seconds before the shield needs recharging. The Mstitel also has vast amounts of armor, able to survive multiple hits from the Navajo’s heavy missiles.
  • Urga Postolka — Small attack helicopter with a minigun on either side.
  • Urga Racek — Small unarmed helicopter able to land on water without sinking. Its purpose is likely reconnaissance, even though they are the slowest helicopter in the game.

Planes:

  • CS7 Thunderhawk — Delta-wing fighter plane equipped with homing missiles and a frontal machine gun.
  • U-7 Dravec — Larger two-engine fighter plane, equipped with bombs and unguided missiles.
  • U41 Ptakojester — Large cargo plane that can carry up to 10 land vehicles.

Ground vehicles:

  • CS Baltdjur — 6-wheeled armored personnel carrier with a roof mounted machine gun. The roof mounted machine gun can not be used from the driving position.
  • CS Odjur — 8-wheeled armored vehicle resembling the Ballard M5B1 Scout. Armed with a cannon and coaxial machine gun, both are operated by the driver. This is the main battle tank of the Medici Military.
  • Imperator Bavarium Tank — 8-wheeled armored vehicle with a Bavarium shield. It could be an improved version of the above vehicle. Same armament as above. This is the most powerful land vehicle in the Medici Military arsenal.
  • Monorail train — A train seen on the railroads in Insula Striate. It is commonly seen carrying CS7 Thunderhawks and various types of ground vehicles. It has a special missile defense system, where it shoots around 7 missiles in a single salvo when enemies get near it.
  • Pavouk U-15 — Off-road motorcycle.
  • Urga Bkolos 2100 — 4-wheeled military armored vehicle, similar to the Harland DTWV-2 Scout and GV-104 Razorback, but more realistic looking. Armament is a fast firing light cannon.
  • Urga Ogar 7 V8 — Buggy.
  • Weaponized Urga Ogar — Weaponized version of the above, armed with machine guns. Only appears on Boom Island.
  • Urga Fura 570 — Six-wheeled MRAP used for personnel transport.
  • Urga Szturm 63A — An MV with a Mounted Gun in a small turret.
  • Stria Obrero — A four-wheeler cargo truck, this truck is used for supply and cargo transport, and also is the main vehicle used to transport Bavarium.
  • Weimaraner W3 — SUV.
  • It is also possible that the military are authorized to use any vehicle, as there was a report of a soldier using a Stria Joia. The D.R.M. has also been seen to at times commandeer any nearest vehicles, so this is likely how the game is meant to work.

Ships:

  • A cruiser, or destroyer, which resembles the Kirov-class battlecruiser. This has only been seen in a promotional artwork.
  • CS Powerrun 77 — Patrol boat resembling Pequod — Harpoon PC 350, but longer. Armed with two machine guns, one on each side.
  • Custode 29 — Small military boat with machine gun at its front, similar to the YP-107 Phoenix.
  • Military Corvette — Military ship with a single gun turret at the front, similar to the Triton Broadsider.
  • Urga Hroch — WW2 — looking landing craft that can transport various types of helicopters or ground vehicles across water.

Completion

The FOW can be disabled by doing the mission The Secret of Vis Electra.

Completion without doing The Secret of Vis Electra

The FOW protecting this base is an airstrike mechanism.

Just avoid the airstrikes. The airstrike is marked by a giant red circle centered around you, and once it stops moving, the airstrike is set. Quickly grapple to another place before you get hit. It is even possible to use the airstrike to your advantage, using it to destroy destructibles around the base.

A much easier way of doing this would be bombarding the location with the U-7 Dravec, as it is very difficult to be hit by airstrikes while in a decently quick plane.

Performance

It’s armed with «missiles» and «heavy missile», which can take down small military settlements in seconds or do heavy damage to larger settlements.

The Navajo has decent speed of up to 243 km/h and decent maneuverability for a heavy assault helicopter. It can even dodge some SAMs if the pilot is skilled enough. The player must be careful on landing however as the helicopter is very fragile. Due to the high speed, decent agility and heavy armament, the CS Navajo will easily level an outpost or small base to the ground in a few strafing runs. As advised by one of the game’s loading screen text options: Remember to try out all the different weapons on an armed vehicle.

The Navajo’s heavy missiles are the most powerful of any non-bavarium explosives in the game, able to destroy almost every vehicle in the game with one round at the expense of a longer reload and slower projectile than the standard missiles.

History and effectiveness

As revealed in Di Ravello tapes and some propaganda Speaker announcements, the Medici Police Department was loyal to the and obstructed Di Ravello’s military dictatorship. Di Ravello solved that problem by accusing the police of corruption and replacing them en masse with the D.R.M.

Their combat effectiveness is a lot lower than that of the Medici Military.

According to some civilians in liberated towns in Medici, the D.R.M. were too lazy (or too busy oppressing the citizens) to actually solve crimes. D.R.M troops are also generally less effective in combat than the Medici Military. The civilian dialogue told a story of the man having reported an item stolen a long time ago, but the D.R.M. had failed to solve the crime. Later after the town liberation, the man had searched the D.R.M. fort (old police station) and found his property. The man assumed that they had solved the crime, but hadn’t bothered to finish their job and return it.

Основным ходом для уменьшения цены по сравнению со старшей моделью стал отказ от схемы двойного моно, как в усилительной части, так и в блоке питания. Интересно, что заявленное разделение каналов при этом улучшилось на 6 дБ — видимо, в результате дополнительных мер по снижению их взаимовлияния. Второй шаг по упрощению конструкции я бы и вовсе к компромиссам не отнес — отсутствующий в JC3 Jr кондиционер сетевого питания (который в JC3+ встроенный) при необходимости можно заменить на внешний, причем не ограничивая себя в выборе.

Многое другое перекочевало в младшую версию без изменений — позолоченные гнезда RCA, резисторы Vishay/Dale в звуковых цепях, выходные XLR-разъемы Neutrik и кнопка «моно» для старых пластинок. Базовые функции тоже сохранены — три коэффициента усиления на выбор и переменный импеданс для MC-головок (правда, тут уже без указания производителя резисторов).

Для прослушивания на тесте предоставили гибридный усилитель Magnat RV-4 c колонками Humidor этой же фирмы. Источником выступил проигрыватель Music Hall MMF-7.3 c головкой Ortofon 2M Bronze. Соединено все это было межблочниками Wireworld Oasis 7, а колонки подключались акустическим Oasis Pro.
