There is also a free patch for the game to upgrade to the 64-bit edition. This version only works with a 64-bit CPU and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, although an after-market patch has been released to convert the 64-bit features to 32-bit systems. The 64-bit enhancements include bump-mapped rockface textures, increased environment activity (extra birds, insects), as well as some 64-bit-specific improvements. Several new maps were also added.]

German Release Controversy

Although the game was developed by a German company, it was subject to one of the most heated controversies about video games in Germany. Upon release of the demo version in March 2004, the Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien und Schriften found the violence level of the game (including gore and ragdoll physics) to be too high even for adults and quickly indexed the demo. The full version had most of that violence edited out (e.g. removed ragdoll behavior of corpses), nevertheless it received a «Not suitable under 18» rating. A storm of indignation broke out, however, when German gamers found out only days after the release, that a slight modification of some files in the game’s directory brought back most of the original gore. The first issue of Far Cry was also indexed, and several weeks later a new version followed with the same censored content but without the possibility to revert the changes. This version (also rated «Not under 18») is now for sale and can be recognized by the note on the cover saying «Deutsche Version» (German version).

Disable motion blur and depth of fieldedit

Disabling motion blur helps to reduce input lag.
Disabling enhances antialiasing on forests and objects that are near, stabilizes the frame rate fluctuation and can give a huge FPS boost in open view areas, for example, on the top of a tower.
Disabling also results in flat and low quality distant objects being more visible, not meshed well with background.

Combat

Takedowns

  • Takedowns can kill enemies from above or below, at a distance, silently, and more. Check the Skills menu.
  • The standard Takedown lets you approach an enemy and press to kill him quickly and silently.
  • The Chained Takedown skill lets you quickly kill multiple enemies in sequence.
  • The Grenade Takedown skill turns your victim into an explosive surprise for nearby enemies.
  • The Heavy Beatdown skill lets you kill a heavy enemy with a powerful takedown.
  • The Knife Throw Takedown skill allows you to silently kill a ranged enemy with a knife.
  • The Takedown Drag skill lets you kill an enemy and silently drag his body away.

Hunting

  • The Syringes tab in the Crafting menu contains powerful serums used to heal, or improve exploration, hunting, and combat abilities.
  • Hunt animals and use their skin to craft items that allow more weapons, ammo, money, and syringes to be carried.
  • Use the skins from hunted animals to craft new equipment and expand inventory capacity. Rare animal skins can be used to craft rare equipment.

Cover & Stealth

  • Use grenades and Molotovs to flush out enemies from behind cover.
  • Use cover to safely reload during combat. You can also blind fire and peek-and-shoot while in cover.
  • Use cover to sneak up on enemies and gain additional protection during combat.
  • To throw a rock, press .
  • Throw rocks to distract enemies, then sneak past them or get up close for a silent takedown.
  • Be stealthy: crouch with to reduce noise and visibility, and sneak up on enemies.
  • Assault rifles excel at mid-range combat but are not ideal for stealthy encounters.
  • Sniper rifles support scopes and sound suppressor attachments for unmatched long range stealth kills.
  • The Spider skills in the Skills menu are focused on stealth, survival, and hunting.
  • Your battle, your way. Sneak in and use takedowns, mount a full frontal assault, or snipe from long range.

On the Ground

Quad Bike

Quad Bikes were imported for recreation. Fastest and most mobile but low armour make this great to quickly travel from place to place but not good for combat.

Buggy

The Buggy is a high-speed off-road vehicle that was originally used for recreation on the Rook Islands by its more wealthy residents. These lightweight cars are ideal vehicles for rapidly navigating the roughest sections of the islands.

To find one; on the North Island you will find one at Cradle Gas (and will always be parked there) and on the Southern Island visit Lonely Shore Way (also always parked there). Now secondly if you drive around the corner of Lonely Shore Way you will also find a yellow one parked there ever so often (easier to spot in the jungle!).

Stryus

The Stryus is a compact car built in South Africa by apartheit workers using pieces of scrap metal from shanty towns. Like many cars on the Rook Islands, these were imported during the islands’ economic boom.

Darrah

The Darrah was a much better built car and it’s main competition was the South African Stryus during Rook Islands’ heyday. Both were nearly identical performance-wise, but the Stryus was cheaper.

Scavenger

Scavengers are off-road vehicles that were originally brought to the Rook Islands by private security forces working for the mining corporations. They are sometimes seen with a turret.

Cargo Truck

Old Cargo Trucks were brought in to haul equipment for the phosphate mines. They now serve as troop transports for the Rakyat.

Armored Personnel Carrier

The presence of APCs on the Rook Islands just goes to show that makers of military-grade vehicles will sell their goods to anyone as long as money is good and real and people have got cash. These tough armoured vehicles are commonly used by local mercenaries.

Special Locations

Outposts

  • New quests and activities are unlocked by liberating outposts and activating radio towers.
  • Liberate an outpost to make a region safer. Enemy-controlled regions are marked in red on the world map.

  • Alarms are found in hostile outposts. Enemies can trigger them to call for reinforcements.

  • Fast travel between safe houses to move around the island quickly. Gain access to new safe houses by liberating outposts.
  • Unlock safe houses by liberating outposts.
  • Shooting an alarm will not disable others in the same outpost. Manually shut down an alarm to disable them all.

Radio Towers

  • Weapons will become free in stores by activating radio towers.
  • New quests and activities are unlocked by liberating outposts and activating radio towers.
  • Experience points (XP) are earned for actions, such as killing enemies, completing missions, activating radio towers, liberating outposts, and more.
  • Liberated outposts and activated radio towers are used as checkpoints. Dying between objectives will result in a respawn at the closest liberated outpost or activated radio tower.
  • Customize weapons at the store with attachments and paint jobs. Weapons will become free by activating radio towers.
  • Remove scramblers from radio towers to activate them and unlock the region map. This also unlocks new weapons at the store.

Safe Houses

  • Unlock safe houses by liberating outposts.
  • Safe houses contain automated stores for customizing weapons and buying supplies.
  • Fast travel to any unlocked safe house to quickly move around the world.
  • Fast travel between safe houses to move around the island quickly. Gain access to new safe houses by liberating outposts.
  • If you die while exploring the island, you will continue from the nearest unlocked safe house or radio tower.

Stores

  • More powerful weapons support attachments — customize them in stores.
  • Need money? Sell loot items at stores or buy treasure maps to reveal the locations of loot chests.
  • Buy ammo at stores, or collect it from weapons, bodies, and ammo boxes.
  • Buy maps from stores to reveal the locations of hidden items such as relics, letters, and memory cards.
  • Apply different Paint Jobs to your weapons at stores by choosing the Customize option.
  • Weapons will become free in stores by activating radio towers.
  • Customize weapons at the store with attachments and paint jobs. Weapons will become free by activating radio towers.
  • Remove scramblers from radio towers to activate them and unlock the region map. This also unlocks new weapons at the store.

Locations

  • The best spot to collect Green, Yellow and White leaves is on the big hill with the pool in the middle north of Amanaki outpost. Its far away from any hostiles, your only worry is the occasional lonely predator lurking about. (NOTE: If you jump from the north side into the pool you will survive the «Freefall» achievement.)
  • Early in the game, the area south-west of Amanaki across the water is a good source of Yellow plants and they are also found heading to the green plants area mentioned above.
  • You can find a boat if you follow the river south of Amanaki downstream. Follow the coastline north for fast Blue leaves. A quick way of obtaining Blue plants later in the game, go east of Kell’s Boatrepairs, lots in the basin there.
  • Loads of Red plants can be found taking the road north of Nat’s repairs and near the small roads around AM 12 or the big seaside road north.
  • White Plants are scarse but about 8 plants can be found next to the road driving south-west of Nat’s Repairs and a few more taking the road to the north.
  • The island south of Kell’s Boat Repairs has a line of Green plants.

A few days before the events of Far Cry 3, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and his camera-man Barry, who were hired by Ubisoft to beat the odds and survive in the «real» Rook Islands that inspired Far Cry 3 witness Vaas executing a pirate he used as a chariot before he and his pirates come across Chris’ ship before killing all the partygoers and blowing it up. Rounding up the survivors, Vaas coerces a female partygoer to execute the rest before discovering Chris is on the island. Expressing his interest in him, Vaas spots Chris and his camera-man Barry hiding behind some rocks before they attempt to escape. Managing to catch up to Barry, who was shot in the leg, Vaas headbutts him into unconsciousness before grabbing the camera to express the viewers not to vacation on Rook Islands. Vaas and the pirates took the partygoer and Barry to a camp where he tortured them to bring Chris out of hiding, and following his failed attempt to rescue them and escape, Vaas was able to capture him and buried him up to his neck on a beach, where he started a daily torture films, such as dehydrating him, trapping his head in a glass bowl with a giant spider, having a fire cracker go off in his face, urinating on him, shocking him with a car battery and fed him pieces of Barry’s flesh, whom he blew up with a rocket launcher. Upon discovering pleas by viewers to let him go, Vaas complies, only to find Chris seemingly not moving and tries waking him up, only to discover he is dead. He tries giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before giving up, until Vaas hears from a pirate about skydivers landing on the island and leaves to «welcome» them, briefly returning to Chris’ body to bury his head.

№ 6. Работа аванпостов в Far Cry 2

Вторая часть серии запомнилась многим игрокам несбалансированным респавном и плохо работающей системой группировок. Искусственный интеллект не был отлажен должным образом, что делало стычки с компьютерными ботами однотипными, а их логику действий предсказуемой.

В итоге все это выражалось в том, что аванпосты можно было захватывать по сто раз, но стоило его покинуть и там снова появлялись враги. Не понятно, почему разработчики из Ubisoft Montreal так поступили и чем вообще руководствовались — но именно данный момент по признанию большинства фанатов, стал для них самым назойливым в Far Cry 2.

Сюжет[]

Weapons

  • Handguns are versatile short range weapons that can be used on ziplines.
  • SMGs offer fast rates of fire and low recoil, however they burn through ammo quickly.
  • Shotguns are devastating close range weapons. Their long reload times can be interrupted.
  • Assault rifles excel at mid-range combat but are not ideal for stealthy encounters.
  • Sniper rifles support scopes and sound suppressor attachments for unmatched long range stealth kills.
  • LMGs offer high rates of sustained firepower and large clip sizes. They take time to load and limit mobility when firing.
  • The Recurve Bow is silent. Fire and explosive arrow tips can be crafted for it.
  • The Flamethrower is a destructive weapon capable of setting entire areas on fire.

Mines & Grenades

  • Hold to cook grenades.
  • Grenades within range are displayed using the on-screen indicator.

Personality and Traits

Riley is the youngest of the three Brody brothers and comes off as the most innocent. He is level-headed, evident when he tries to negotiate with two men over Keith pissing them off, at the night club flashbacks. A novice pilot, Riley is adept at flying a plane and learns how to fly a helicopter when he and Jason escape the airfield, where he displays a fearful, panicking side of him when being shot at and pursued by Hoyt’s Privateers but gradually begins to get excited over the action and the triumph as he and his brother escape alive from dozens of armed soldiers and vehicles. This in some ways parallels Jason’s behaviour when he begins his adventure across the Rook Islands.

Personality

What is known about Vaas’ personality comes from his close and often dangerous encounters with the main protagonist. Close observation shows that he is reckless, violent, sadistic, brutal, unpredictable, cynical, Machiavellian, psychopathic, insane, extremely prideful, and a remorseless pirate with a dark sense of humor and a violent personality — who is feared even by his own men, some of whom are as chaotic and psychotic as Vaas.

Despite being crazier and more mentally unstable than the other antagonists, such as Hoyt Volker, he was a charismatic leader and provided most of the jokes in the Far Cry Experience which saw the torture of Christopher Mintz-Plasse and his camera-man at the hands of Vaas.

However one can notice that once Christopher is not moving for the last time, he begins to attempt a resuscitate Chris. After failing, he seems to begin to genuinely mourn him, just before a fellow pirate announces Jason’s arrival. Showcasing how quickly Vaas’ moves from one obsession to the next, he then humorously begins to bury Chris’ head in sand. This marks one of the few (if any) times in which he shows remorse towards one of his victims.

In Far Cry 6 Vaas: Insanity, a further evidence about his insanity and his life. It indicated that both Hoyt and Citra had caused him became psychopathic killer, drove his mind crazier and his sister betrayed Vaas by attempted to killed with her knife even though his mind is slowly descended to insanity due to drug abuse and the promise of become a warrior. When he saw Jason suppose death by his hand in one of his vision, he attempted to make a war against Hoyt for harmed his native so many year by shooting his pirate leader and declared a war with Hoyt but unfortunately his plan stage against Hoyt had failed due to Jason intervention and his revenge path against Vaas. His obsession with Jason it’s the only key to liberated his mind and free from his sister and Hoyt by not only fight himself but also thought of Jason as his savior in his mind. Should the player choose to stay and keep fighting against Jason and Citra, in the secret ending we saw Vaas is escaped and still alive but because of this he still retained some of his old trait and delusional himself such as choking a Death neck, talking to the god and talking to a tennis ball what appeared to be Jason look alike. Even though he is finally at peace but now we only see that he had a mind fragment himself rather than continue to be a psychopathic killer. Since he got nothing to fight for, he decided to become a weapon smuggler for Juan Cortez and still had a dark humor such as joking about Diego’s death at the hand of Castillos with Juan.
