Довоенный мир во вселенной Fallout представляет собой причудливую и изящную смесь из «атомно-космической» эстетики ретрофутуризма 1950-х — 1960-х, эстетики других периодов второй половины XX века (главным образом — 1940-х и 1980-х) и «обычного» хайтека, приправленную ненавязчивым обыгрыванием штампов «бульварной» фантастики, активным использованием в ироническом и сатирическом ключе ностальгических образов, и обилием отсылок к массовой культуре — и всё это покоится на относительно «твёрдой» сюжетной основе достаточно реалистичного по меркам 1990-х сценария антиутопического развития ситуации в мире.

Следует отметить, что масштабные ретконы реалий мира серии в Fallout 3 и 4, вокруг которых в коммьюнити было сломано столько копий, достаточно серьёзно затронули и этот аспект. При сохранении общей узнаваемой картины, акценты в атмосфере и эстетике довоенного мира местами ощутимо изменились: например, светлая ностальгия по белому заборчику постепенно сменила его откровенное высмеивание, что особенно ярко проявилось в четвёртой части. Кроме того, довоенный лор трансформировался в явную альтернативную историю.

Великая Войнаправить

Во второй половине XXI века исчерпание нефтяных запасов и череда экономических и социальных кризисов вызвали серию кровавых военных конфликтов на перенаселённой Земле, в итоге вылившихся в Третью мировую войну. Основными участниками войны были США и Китай, на периферии конфликта между которыми расположились также значительно ослабевший Советский Союз (то ли не распадавшийся, то ли возродившийся — конкретики на этот счёт в сюжете нет до сих пор) в нетипичном амплуа союзника Штатов, страны Европейского Содружества и весь прочий мир. 23 октября 2077 года воющие стороны нанесли массированные ядерные удары по территории противника, и на сотни лет настали тёмные века. Америка оказалась раздроблена на множество маленьких городов-государств, сельских общин и полностью, до первобытнообщинного строя, одичавших племён.

Незадолго до войны американское правительство в партнёрстве с корпорацией Vault-Tec начало проводить масштабный социальный эксперимент. Они стали заселять людей в огромные подземные бомбоубежища. При этом, если некоторые убежища были нормальными — «контрольными», то в большинство намеренно встраивался какой-то изъян

Например, жителям недодавали какого-нибудь жизненно важного ресурса, или заставляли их жить по неестественным законам и обычаям. Правительство США — которое само спряталось от будущей войны в надёжных укрытиях — планировало использовать результаты этих опытов на людях для того, чтобы построить новое, научно организованное общество после войны.

Что же касается тех людей, которые выжили без помощи Убежищ — то о них правительство сначала просто не думало. А потом, когда уже значительно после войны из остатков правительства была создана террористическая организация «Анклав» — они объявили людей с Пустоши низшей расой мутантов, подлежащей уничтожению.

Debug Mode

Debug mode is a simple toy that helps in doing some fancy stuff. This options don’t give any kind of advantages for players so unless you’re game tester or perhaps graphic modder creator you won’t have any use of it. To start a game in Debug mode ad a -DebugInfo to your Fonline.exe (screen #1). While having the debug mode on following options are possible:

• F1 — As a bonus to normal f1 help file game will display some extra stuff like exact coordinates etc. Do not press f1 while being on worldmap when having debug mode on or you will get a game crash.
• F7 — This will show NPC’s names.
• CTR+F7 — This will show ID’s of all players and mobs around you. (screen #2)
• F9 — In FOnline 2238 it was showing some pathfinding stuff according to their old wiki. In FOnline2 though this option is disabled and instead it used as a toggle button for Awareness.
• F10 — Will turn on game grid. (screen #3)
• F11 — Never tried this one in FOnline2, but according to FOnline 2238’s wiki it was used to save all graphics that were stored in game engine to HDD. Not sure what this does — Probably some tool for admins.

FOnline: Requiem has advanced far in past years and became quite easy to get into for newcomers unlike it was at its launch. With combined efforts by developers and players, the game was packed with the following content:

• Numerous unique locations, quests, dungeons (both single and group ones) and events, which will satisfy needs of both experienced players and newcomers;
• Combat mechanics, which underwent heavy changes, so it equally resembles tactics and action in Real Time mode — something similar you could’ve seen in Fallout Tactics. Numerous improvements were made for this combat system to shine, including but not limited to adding of new weapons with unique behavior, armors, mechanics, complete rebalance of other equipment familiar to the fans of the original game;
• Lots of new graphical elements that were carefully added, without breaking the original designing style. While also using original content from Fallout, developers wrote and optimized a whole new engine, which supports the non-standard resolutions and 3D models usage;
• A vast and smart crafting system, which allows players to create nearly all possible equipment — from standard combat gear to rare and powerful weaponry, which gives great firepower and tactical advantage in combat;
• The finely tuned system of character development. The game will provide you with the choices of development, leaving no skill, trait or perk useless. Every player is free to choose a path which interests him, and it will satisfy him, without breaking the game balance.

You can set a binds to use item from hand slots:

Communication:

• S — for shouting (You can also shout by using ctr+enter)

• H — for sending radio distress signals (require radio in active hand slot.)

Command List

To use command press enter then type in desired command:

• ~suicide -> If you’re on negative hp you will die after writing this one. You can also use this to get out of furniture trap.
• ~cuttheveins -> Same as suicide.
• ~requesthelp message — If there is any Admin online he will receive your message. If not you will get communicate: «No Admins online». Use sparingly. A real life speech check might be done If you roll a critical fail it may cause teleportation to Glow level 5, Necropolis Vault level 2 or Sierra Army Depot level 2, or in case of big stupidly straight to Alcatraz.
• ~flip -> If you have a cap in your inventory you will flip an coin.
• ~toss -> Same as a Flip.
• ~cointoss -> Same as a Flip.
• ~deleteself password -> Used to delete character, also servers as trigger mechanism for character reroll if you have enough caps in inventory while executing. Check Character Reroll for more informations.
• ~changepass oldpass newpass -> Used for changing passwords.
• ~myinfo -> You can check your id number by typing this command.
• ~ingnore playernick -> If you tired and annoyed by some spammer around you can set this to not display any messages coming from that player.
• ~reroll -> Allows to check how much caps you need to reroll a char.
• ~resetsg -> This will lower your Small Guns skill to 110%. Works only if it’s already higher than that. Why would you want to do that? It will make your char able to use combat skills speed bonus. (It works only if your cc skill is high — anything from 100% to 200% and if your combat skills are below or equal to 110% thus the option of lowering skills if necessary.)
• ~names -> Refreshes the name colorization without needing to restart the game client.
• ~decraftinv -> Mass disassemble all items in your inventory. Works only in tents or in bases that you are signed in.
• ~decrafthex -> Mass disassemble all items on hex that is occupied by your character. Works only in tents or in bases that you are signed in.
• ~prize -> After some event you have to type it to get points signed up for you taking part in it.

Note: the ~ sign might not work properly because of some windows glitch. If nothing shows up try combination for it again (shift + ` sign) one after another and it should show up.

Main difference between FOnline and modern MMORPG’s

1. Players are able to attack whoever and wherever they want, for loot and fun. You are allowed to fight any player and take all his gear with yourself, with one minor drawback — each player your encounter can do the same;
2. You are not forced to spend all your days in the same place, grinding resources and experience for new characters: leveling a crafter, combat character or trader will take won’t take you long, with the game allowing you to combine all three activities in one character and get enough gear to support them playing only a few hours per day;
3. Active and responsive forum and discord, where you can always contact the administration — to share found bugs or to propose your ideas for server development.

Points of interest

Modoc

• 1 — Jo. A local NPC trader.
• 2 — Lee Balton. An NPC with many different purposes. Most importantly, he is a level 2 armorer teacher. Lee can also sell you some armors. Most players use his gecko hides trading services (he pays quite a lot of caps for silver, gold and fire gecko hides, and he will also ask wastelanders to bring him some brahmin hides in a form of a quest. Finally he can upgrade your Leather Armors to Leather Armors mark II for 150$ each (if the original armor was upgraded, the upgrades won’t stay; on the other hand, if the original armor was damaged, after upgrade it will have 100% durability). He will only buy fire gecko skins at time of Buy-Out event.
• 3 — The workbench location.
• 4 — A trader. He sells all kind of stuff except for drugs.
• 5 — Sheriff. Talk to him if you want to start the Town Control timer.
• 6 — Town Control box.
• 7 — The workbench location.
• 8 — Ron. He sells the Farm (base map) for 100 000 caps.
• 9 — Rose. A minor NPC trader.
• 10 — Mook. He will upgrade your gear for free. Don’t count on free Combat Armor MK IIs upgrades though, apparently he doesn’t consider such lame armor as a gear. Desert Eagles? Shotguns? Hunting Rifles? Nope. The only thing he’s willing to upgrade is Brass Knuckles. True wastelander doesn’t need anything else.

Modoc is a really small city. Not much is going on here. Modoc is inhabited mostly by farmers and people buying farmer’s crops then transporting it to other towns where food is more scarce. To reflect that in game, this town is not only small but also there is only few NPC’s living here. Oh there is also a lot of brahmins here. And even more brahmin end-type product…if you know what i mean.

The northern town of Modoc has an interesting history. There is a story that long time ago this town used to be a center of PvP. Groups of players used to stand here all day long, just waiting for any other team to walk in, and then the sky would cry blood and the most epic clusterfuck would commence, true story… but let’s stop trading ancient stories of badassery stories and get back to harsh reality of the FOnline Universe, shall we?

Currently, today, right now, here in the town of Modoc plays an insignificant part in FOnline2 universe. There are only few useful NPCs in this place; one of them being Lee Balton, who runs a gecko hide business. Nowadays players come here mostly to battle each other during Town Control time and also during Fire Gecko Buy-Out.

For Snipers taking parts in town controls Modoc is their favorite place (alongside with Klamath and Gecko) as there is a lot of open space here on the map where you can safely shoot your enemies from nice (far) range.

Description

As any other MMORPG, the world of FOnline2 is full of various NPCs, and all of those NPCs have their own problems and plenty of caps they are ready to part with if you are willing to help them, while a wastelander (that would be you) needs caps and experience. See the connection here? Also, besides caps and experience, you can also receive many valuable items and positive karma as well. To explain it in a nutshell, doing quests is fun!

Some of the quests require you to go to a specific quest-related location. It is however important to remember that once these locations become visible on your worldmap, you will have limited time to go to those locations and finish the taken quest (usually few days in real time, so make sure that you have informed yourself in advance about certain missions, since your character might not be tough enough to finish them, consequently making those locations disappear and the quests unfinished).

Quests locations are private, meaning that only you can see them on the worldmap. However, you can lead other people with you so they can assist you in fighting your enemies, but they cannot see those locations without your guidance.

Means that it’s a one-time quest. Means that this quest can be done repeatedly, but only after a 5 hours cooldown. Means it’s more of a little task than a quest. Means that the NPC who gave you the quest is a collector of certain items.

Game Options

You can access to them after pressing ESC and then choosing options.

Combat Mode

Real-time — you will always fight in real time combat. You won’t be able to get into any turn based encounter.Both Modes — you will fight in real time combat but also game will detect turn based encounters too.Turn-based — you will start your encounters in turn based mode but game will also detect real time encounters.

Always Run

Setting this to on will makes your character always run which is good thing…except if you’re a sneaker without silent running perk. In that case you will want to turn this off.

Interface

Default: Also known as classic. A game skin based on Fallout 2. While certainly nice its not advised. Except if you really like it you should switch.

Pure: Better interface — it’s smaller, cleaner you can see more on the game even with certain windows like inventory opened.

Crit Effects

Setting this off will cause the game to not display information about critical effects (like Blinded) when inflicted such hit. If you don’t want to notice them better turn them off (No really keep this options on, its helpful.)

Followers Info

Every time somebody follows you to world-map you will get a notification. If its annoying you, you can set it off buts is advised to have it on as it might protect you from unwanted visitors.

Karma Colors

With this options on you will see people’s nick with positive karma in green and the one with negative’s karma in red. It is advised to turn off this option as the karma is not real factor whether player should be trusted or not.

Fast Travel

If this option is set on the game client will automatically cancel any non forced encounters on your way. Very convenient option and you should turn it on unless you looking for certain encounters (For example during farming Fire Geckos.)

Transparency

A very experimental feature allowing you to make interface go halfway transparent. Doesn’t work for everyone. Or rather for most of people it is only causing game to glitch out and freeze.

Global Messages

Enables or Disable messages that are displayed to everyone by green font on middle of screen (TC information, Event information and so on).

Fallout game description

A devastating nuclear war had wiped out almost the entire population of the Earth. The civilization, as we know it, has been destroyed. The Earth has become a huge wasteland populated by mutated creatures. Only small number of humans survived and they formed communities living on the surface, where they mostly scavenge what remains from the pre-war civilization. Some lucky people managed to reach safety of the Vaults, huge underground dwellings, during the war. Recently, the water purification controller chip in Vault 13 broke. Without clean water, the people of the Vault cannot survive. One person is sent to find a replacement chip and ventures outside to face a dangerous world, hoping to return within a hundred and fifty days.

Skill points are awarded when the player character levels up; traits are assigned during character creation, while perks are obtained every three character levels. There are eighteen different skills in the game, divided into combat, active, and passive categories. Combat skills include weapon proficiencies (e.g. small and big guns, melee, etc.); active skills are used for support or interacting with the environment (doctor, lockpick, science, steal, and others); passive skills are mainly dedicated to social interaction (barter, speech, gambling, and so on). Traits bestow various benefits upon the character while also imposing penalties; in contrast, perks are purely beneficial. By developing and customizing attributes, skills, traits and perks, the player is granted a considerable freedom in shaping the protagonist in his combat-related and social behavior.

The game has an open world which can be freely explored from the onset. Only a few quests are required to complete in order to advance the main plot; a vast amount of side quests is available. Thanks to the game’s emphasis on social interaction, many problems can be solved in a non-violent way; in fact, it is possible to complete the game without engaging in battles at all, running away from enemy encounters and concluding the final confrontation in a relatively peaceful fashion. Conversely, the player can opt for a destructive path, killing everyone in sight. A Karma system is used to track the player’s moral decisions during the game.

Combat in Fallout is turn-based. Participants have a limited amount of action points (AP) per turn; each action (including movement) depletes a certain number of AP, eventually ending a character’s turn. The player can target specific body parts of enemies during battles. Characters may join the protagonist, traveling together and participating in combat as a party. Though the player may assign general commands to the companions, their actions are controlled by the AI, and they cannot be customized.
