Как развиваться в Ex Nihilo

Для начала развития игроку понадобится минимальный набор блоков и предметов:

• блок земли и саженец, из которого можно вырастить дерево на его поверхности;
• один источник воды (в ведре или в виде блока льда) и один источник лавы (ведро), которые потребуются для бесконечного генератора булыжника;
• немного строительных блоков.

Вырастите дерево и разрушьте его ствол руками, чтобы получить древесину (хотя бы два блока). Сделайте верстак и несколько палок, а из них – крюк по следующему рецепту:
Этот инструмент увеличивает вдвое шанс дропа при разрушении листвы (саженцев деревьев, яблок из дуба и т. п.) и дает возможность получить небольшого белого червячка – шелкопряда.

Убедитесь, что у вас в запасе есть саженцы для выращивания новых деревьев, поскольку дальше они выпадать перестанут. Используйте шелкопряда на листве и дождитесь, пока вся крона не станет белой – зараженной:
Разрушая инфицированную листву крюком, вы получите нить, используемую в крафте паутины. Она нужна для создания сита – важнейшего из приспособлений мода:
Через него вы сможете просеивать землю, гравий и производные от него блоки для получения полезных ресурсов. Но для этого необходимо позаботиться о бесперебойном создании этих блоков в больших количествах.

Постройте генератор булыжника. Простейшая структура выглядит так:
В таком генераторе после разрушения очередного блока булыжника течения воды и лавы будут смешиваться, образовывая новый булыжниковый блок. Для его добычи в неизменном виде подойдет любая кирка, а для получения ресурсов из Ex Nihilo вам понадобятся молот и бочка:
Первый инструмент в начале развития можно сделать из булыжника, второй – из досок любого вида.

Молот разрушает булыжниковые блоки до гравия, гравий – до песка, а песок – до пыли. Каждый из этих ресурсов может быть просеян через сито для получения руд металлов и других полезных вещей.

Бочка из дерева может накапливать воду во время дождя (извлекается ведром), что поможет сделать бесконечный источник воды в виде небольшого водоема размером 2×2 или 3×1. Он позволит в любой момент получить воду, не дожидаясь выпадения осадков.

Бочка может использоваться и для крафта лавы. Для этого нужно сделать ее из особой глины – смеси обычной (создается при добавлении пыли в заполненную водой бочку) с костной мукой:
После обжига глиняной бочки вы получите тигель. Разместите его над источником тепла (факел, лава, горящий адский камень и т. д.) и поместите внутрь булыжник, камень, гравий или адский камень. Через некоторое время этот блок переплавится в лаву.

Бочки из дерева могут использоваться для производства земли. Для этого их нужно наполнить органическими компонентами: саженцами, овощами, фруктами, цветами, шелкопрядами или частями мобов. После недолгого ожидания можно будет забрать из бочки блок земли.
Просеиванием земли можно получить семена овощей и других растений из Майнкрафта, а также саженцы разных деревьев. А при обработке песка есть шанс дропа древних спор, превращающих землю в мицелий:
Вода в бочке, установленной на такую поверхность, через время превратится в ведьмину воду темно-фиолетового цвета:
Добавив в нее песок, вы получите песок душ:
Просейте его через сито, чтобы получать ресурсы Нижнего мира.

Для получения адского камня и камня Края нужно применить на тигле с лавой красную пыль или светопыль:

What’s this about?

What is Skyblock?

«Skyblock» is the name of a Minecraft Map, invented by Noobcrew in year 2011. It was first released for Minecraft Version 1.3, where it contains a small overworld and a nether biome.

Skyblock was by the time embettered and further developed, but the main concept is and has always been to create an empire of almost nothing. In traditional Skyblock, this «nothing» consists of a small island floating in the sky, completely made out of dirt. On this island you will find a tree as well as a chest filled with some lava and ice. Around there is another island, made completely out of sand. On this island you can find a chest with some more stuff and a cactus of 3 blocks height.

By the time Skyblock gained high popularity amongst YouTube, and therefore many variants have been released for any versions of Minecraft. On a modded game new possibilities come to extend the standard concept. For example in «Sky Factory 2» the start island is reduced to one dirt block with a tree, as surviving with this is possible only due to Ex Nihilo.

What is Ex Nihilo?

That’s the point where we come to this mod: «Ex Nihilo» is a mod created by Erasmus_Crowley especially for the use in Skyblock-type maps. It adds many fun and interesting, but always useful stuff if you are having great plans with your world. Some of the blocks and items are also very useful in non-Skyblock maps.

But for now you should get a small introduction about the mod without too much detail.

What does Ex Nihilo come with?

Ex Nihilo is under-the-roof packed with new stuff. Only one of that is the Barrel, which allows the player to get new dirt or (more important in Skyblock) collect Water from rain. You will especially in the first time get to use the Barrel quite often, but after having created an infinite water source, it may get less important.
More often then you will use the Sieve: It allows you to get rare resources from hammered items easily, such as iron or gold. Using the Sieve on a dirt block, you may also get rare and ancient plants…
Oh, and the next important tool for you is the Crook, being capable of increasing your sapling or Apple income drastically! Also, you may sometimes get a little Silkworm out of the leaves, which you can use to obtain string being a very rare resource…

24. Полетайте (самоубийство в виде прыжка в Пустоту не считается за выполнение этого достижения).
25. Создайте достаточно большую деревню, чтобы в ней заспаунился железный голем.
26. Соберите 5 спаунеров ифритов в Нижнем мире.
27. Заполните DirtChest 9000 до максимального объём (обязательно прочитайте перед этим книгу!)
28. Послушайте виниловую пластинку при помощи проигрывателя.
29. Носите монокль.
30. Возьмите печенье из банки для печенья.
31. Измерьте длину вашей базы рулеткой.
32. В вашей комнате трофеев сделайте полки, стенды для брони т.д. для того чтобы уместить перечисленные ниже трофеи (порядок, в котором они перечислены, не важен):
    • Шерсть каждого цвета.
    • Морж.
    • Полные комплекты брони из 8 различных материалов.
    • 20 различных семян из Magic Crops.
    • 20 уникальных Force Flasks, наполненные животными или мобами.

Этап 2

Сделайте автоматизированную ферму бекона.
Используйте AE Assembler для автоматического крафта диска на 64k.
Перейдите в Глубокую Тьму.
Активировать Division Sigil и создать Builder’s Wand.
Вырастите Священное Каучуковое Дерево (ВНИМАНИЕ, ЭТО ОПАСНО!! Вначале проверьте это в творческом режиме! Требуется мощный компьютер! Создавайте его в 1000 блоках от основной базы).
Откройте 64 Lucky Blocks.
Оденьте 10 Heart Canisters.
Создайте неразрушимую Tinkers Construct Кирку.
Убейте иссушителя.
Убейте дракона Края.
Клонируйте зачарованную книгу при помощи типографского стола и печатного станка.
Создайте доступ к вашей ME сети дистанционно при помощи Wireless Access Terminal.
Создайте доступ к вашей ME сети дистанционно при помощи Ender IO.
В вашей комнате трофеев сделайте полки, стенды для брони т.д. для того чтобы уместить перечисленные ниже трофеи (порядок, в котором они перечислены, не важен):
A Treasure Core.
Головы всех монстров.
Голову игрока.
20 уникальных Open Blocks Trophies.
Полный набор Manyullyn Tinkers Construct Tools.
По одному из каждого: однократно, двукратно, трикратно, четверократно, пятикратно, шестикратно, семикратно, и восьмикратно сжатого булыжника.

Этап 3

1. Заполните Deep Storage Unit полностью.
2. Автоматизируйте создание восьмикратно сжатого булыжника менее чем за час.
3. Заполните диск жидкостного хранилиза 64k чем угодно, помимо воды.
4. Производите булыжник быстрее, чем 10.000 единиц в секунду.
5. Используйте AE Пространственное хранилище для транспортировки в замок в Deep Dark из вашего мира.
6. Store yourself in Spacial Storage and use a Rod of Return to come home.

Purpose

Barrels have many uses, where each is quite useful for Skyblock worlds.

Composting

Barrels can compost items into dirt when they are filled with organic material. The following table describes what items can be composted and what percentage they contribute to a full barrel of compost.

When a barrel is completely filled with compostable material, it will start to compost its content. This process takes roughly 100 seconds to finish. After that, the barrel is filled with a block of dirt, which then can be ejected by right-clicking.

Storing Fluids

Barrels can hold fluids as well as solid blocks. However, when a wooden barrel is filled with lava, it will (obviously) burn down after some time.

As a special twist, barrels placed under the open sky will collect rain on downfall.

Transforming

A Filled Wooden Barrel near Stone grows mossy stones.

When wooden barrels are filled with water, they turn Cobblestone around into Mossy Cobblestone. This process can only happen when the blocks around are not affected by rain, and will then take 100 mB Water from the barrel.

Also, when a barrel is placed adjacent to a block of Mycelium, it will turn water inside into Witch Water (WARNING: Wooden Barrels may disappear!).

When Water flows above a barrel filled with Lava, it transforms into Obsidian.

If composted dirt is left near Mycelium for a while, it will turn into Mycelium block (thus allowing to obtain Mycelium blocks without Silk Touch)

Summoning Monsters

Stone barrels are also able to spawn some creatures, when tapped with Dolls:

• A Barrel filled with Lava and tapped with an Angry Doll will summon a Blaze (WARNING: It might explode!)
• A Barrel filled with Witch Water and tapped with a Creepy Doll will summon an Enderman

Mixing

When a Barrel is filled with fluids, it can turn some blocks used on them into other items:

All the recipes can be done in either stone or wooden Barrels. However, as said above, Wooden Barrels tend to burn down when filled with Lava or Witch Water, so all recipes involving these are recommended to be done in a Stone Barrel.

Usage[edit]

With the desired block selected on the hotbar, right-clicking the Sieve will place one block inside. Right-clicking 14 more times will destroy that block and randomly provide materials according to the distribution in the tables below. Holding right-click works just as well as clicking repeatedly, and this process can be automated by devices such as the Autonomous Activator. Known materials that can be used in the Sieve are dirt, sand, gravel, dust, Soul Sand, and stone.

With Ex Aliquo installed additional mod items can be acquired: Natura leaves and Topiary Grass produce the Natura berries, bushes and saplings; Mariculture Limestone produces Rutile Ore; and end stone produces Metallurgy ores.

Oddsedit

Note: Odds of N:1 indicate that, on average, you will get one of the associated outputs per N+1 of the inputs processed in the Sieve. For example, odds against getting a Diamond from putting Gravel in the Sieve are 127:1, so you can expect an average of 1 Diamond per 128 Gravel.

Crushed Netherrack gives:

1. ↑ Will only generate if Thaumcraft 4 is installed.

Wooden Barrels

Different Types of Barrels

The Wooden Barrel is similar to the stone barrel except for a few things.  A wooden barrel will leak liquids over time, and also wooden barrels cannot hold lava for a long period of time.

There are six different types of wooden barrels; Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia and Dark Oak. All six types perform the same thing but look slightly different. It also can be used to Summon Endermen with Creepy Dolls.

Stone Barrels

A Stone Barrel does the same thing as a wooden barrel except it holds lava without eventually burning up. Its strong walls prevent it from leaking and producing Mossy Blocks. It also can be used to Summon Blazes with Angry Dolls unlike the Wooden Barrel.

Stone barrels were added in Version 1.10 of Ex Nihilo.

I want MORE!!!

So, simple Skyblock ain’t enough for you? Try playing one of the various modpacks all over the web! They make your gameplay more difficult, more specified, but also a lot easier, more comfortable and broaden your blocky horizons! But before you can play like this, you first have to mod your Minecraft version.

Download the Forge client

Luckily, this is quite an easy step. For this, visit http://files.minecraftforge.net/. There pick the Minecraft version you want to install mods for, and download the installer that suits you best.

Which one do I need?

Forge comes with many options, but most of you will only need one: The «Universal JAR». Notice that you must have Java installed to use it. If that’s not the case and you are using Windows, you may take the .exe Installer file instead (Unfortunately, this ONLY works on Windows, but you need to have installed Java for Minecraft anyway).

Install Forge Mod Launcher

Now you have to open the recently downloaded file. If anything is well, a window should pop up with the Forge symbol in it. Here select the «Install Client» option, and type your Minecraft directory (see above; Normally, Forge automatically detects your standard Minecraft directory).
NOTICE that at least for this step you must’ve started the selected Minecraft version in the selected directory at least once, because Forge uses the file downloaded to the «versions» directory then!

Fetch your mods

After a short time, Forge is (hopefully) successfully installed. You can now play Minecraft on the newly created profile «forge» in your Launcher. Then you can watch a new loading screen with an anvil. Well, for now it does almost nothing, and is gone soon. That’s because you may not have any mods installed.
But that’s easy to fix: look for Minecraft mods of your version on the internet (By the time this is written, 1.7.10 mods are REALLY common, while there exists almost NO mod for 1.8.9+. Keep this in mind when installing Forge). After you downloaded the jar files, place them into the newly created folder «mods» in your Minecraft directory.
Now restart your Forged Minecraft client. Congrats! You are now playing modded! You can see the number of installed and enabled mods in the home menu.

What about the modpacks?

Modpacks are downloaded in a similar way as single mods, but here you’ll get a zip file instead of a jar archive (which is by the way technically a zip file with a Java ending). Place this file in a folder named «modpacks». Now all the mods, textures, structures, scripts,… of the pack should be installed on restart. Remember that for changes having effect you always have to restart!

And again you’re done! Now you may just install mods as said above, or uninstall them by simply removing the file from the folder. Of course, if you wanna play Skyblock, my advice for you is to always keep Ex Nihilo installed, as it is quite a light-weighting mod (strangely). But hey, you’re now complete with the first steps, so let’s take your first steps!

Now, how do I get into it?

Sounds good, huh? But before you can play, you first have to do some easy steps:

Buy and install Minecraft

You may not forget that Minecraft is NOT a free game, and you will have to pay about 27$ to play it. Also to play you will have to download and install a working client from the official Mojang Website.
But installing Minecraft may not be the topic of this article.

Fetch the Skyblock Map

WARNING: BEFORE this step, you may start Minecraft at least once! Otherwise you’ll have a hard time following this step.

Go to the MinecraftForum Thread of Noobcrew’s (or any other) map to download it. Then look for the zip file you made, and copy it to your Minecraft Directory. Extract it to the folder «saves» you will find there. If there’s now a folder named as the map, and this folder contains some cryptical files such as «level.dat», then you’re right.

Your Minecraft Directory

So, where do you find this? On Windows computers, just type «%appdata%/.minecraft» in the explorer navigation bar. This standard path is ALWAYS used by the Minecraft Launcher.
However, the Launcher can handle more than one Minecraft profile, whereat the player can also redefine the game directory. If that’s the case with you, find this folder, or try using another profile.

You can now easily play Skyblock for Minecraft Vanilla. Just select the world (those are normally created a long time ago and therefore in a low place in the list) and start. Remember to follow the rules explained on the map forum thread!
